From Dreams to Reality..

“He who has a why to live for will put up with almost any how.”
- Nietzsche, German Philosopher

Remember,
“Dreams come true, if we only wish hard enough.
You can have anything in life,
If you will sacrifice everything else for it.”
-Sir James Barrie

Is your dream really, really important to you?
Are you willing to back yourself all the way, till you achieve those dreams?
How do you bring your dreams into the reality of your life?

Let’s begin.

  • The first step – ‘dream your dream’ and put it on paper.
  • The second step – ‘visualize your dream’, - paint it in your mind’s eye.
  • The third step – ‘plan your dream’ – write down your goals and strategy.
  • The fourth step – ‘act on your dream’ – takes action in your life.
  • The fifth step – ‘review your actions’ - keep fine-tuning them.
‘Dream’ your dream - and put it on paper

Have you heard of this devotee praying to God, “O God, please make me win a big lottery”. His praying makes God take pity on him. God appears before the devotee and tells him, “To win a lottery, you must at least buy the ticket”.

The once popular song from the musical movie, ‘The Sound of Music’ had this song –
“Let’s start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you sing you begin with do re me/(sa re ga….)”
When you want to convert your dreams into reality
You must start by dreaming your dreams…
How?
Bring it out from your mind. Pen it down. Put it on paper.

Ask yourself three fundamental questions:

  • Who do I want to ‘be’?
  • What do I want to ‘do’?
  • What do I want to have?

If I could choose to ‘be’, ‘do’ and ‘have’ whatever my heart desires, without any restrictions, what would be my choices?

Ask yourself questions that inspire you to dream grand dreams.

  • What if you won Rupees One Crore in a lottery?
  • How would you then answer the above three fundamental questions?
  • Here are some more questions to stimulate you ….
  • What if you had the power to choose, whatever you wanted to do as your life work,
  • what would you choose to do?
  • What kind of a lifestyle would you like to have, if money is not a problem?
  • What would give you tremendous fulfilment and satisfaction in being, doing and having?

Ask yourself many such ‘what if’ questions to get the dream genie out.

‘Visualize your dream’, - paint it in your mind’s eye

You now need to more actively use the powers of your subconscious. To turn your dreams into reality take the next step of high achievers … ‘Visualise’ your dream. In your mind’s eye create a picture of your dream as if you have already achieved it. Visualise the desired final, realised dream. Make this mental picture sharp, focussed colourful and vivid. Further, create a ‘dream book’, full of pictures similar to your dream house, dream car, dream life’s work, dream family life and dream lifestyle…

Remember... the brain cannot distinguish an imagined event from a real event. Use this fact to your advantage, while visualising. When you are visualising your dream you are envisioning your dream. You are allowing your subconscious success mechanism to lead you towards achieving your dream. As Maxwell Maltz put it, “When you see a thing clearly in your mind your creative success mechanism within takes over, and does the job much better than you can do it by conscious effort.”

What is your vision of your life in its various dimensions? How would you like to see your life 5-10-15-20 years from now in its various departments? What is your vision in the following areas?

  • Life Partner and Family Life.
  • Life work.
  • Financial well being.
  • Health and Peace of mind.
  • Personality (Physical, mental, moral, spiritual development, developing qualities, habits, etc.)
  • Contribution to Society, Nation.

Your next task is to write a statement of what you envision for yourself.
While working on your vision; try to suspend your internal critic as well as any inclination to be modest or prudent.  At this point, don't concern yourself with whether your vision is achievable.  This is a time to entertain notions of greatness.  To reach as far as your heart and mind will take you.
Give a larger context, meaning and depth to your life by giving shape to your vision right now!
Wow! Congratulations if you have done this. If you haven’t, I suggest you do it now! Don’t go beyond this point. Do it! Do it now!
“Do the thing and you will have the power. Do not do the thing and you will not have the power”, said Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Wishing you, all the very best in life!
May you achieve your dreams!
May you be happy!
